Being
a wedding flower designer is one of the
most difficult job someone could do.
Just think of it this way. A wedding is
one of the most important event in
someone's life and you could make the
wedding or break the wedding. As a
wedding flower designer you are in
charge of all the flower arrangements in
the wedding and you are responsible to
make the bride look the most pretties
thing that day. Imagine if everything
went wrong and no flowers, because
someone messed up your order for flowers.
What are you going to do?
Well that's what happened to me two
weeks ago. A month before the wedding I
placed an order for the flowers with the
wholesale that I death with for three
years. Never once the wholesale
failed me. Every time when I order
flowers I order by names of the flowers.
For example, white roses I call it
Bliss and red roses I call it Freedom.
But when I give my quote to my clients I
refer flowers by colors. This wedding
was not anything special than other
weddings I have done in the past. So
when the day came to pick up the flowers
I ordered, I went to the wholesale
bright and earlier to see my wholesale
rep to pick up the flowers. The funny
thing was that when she saw me she asked me
why I was there and how she could help
me. All in all she forgot about my order
for the flowers that I placed a month ago.
She didn't admit that she forgot my
order until another sales rep told her
that she saw me placing the order. She
checked her order sheets and guessed
what my order form was in her pills of
order forms. And all she could say was
ops.. I guessed I forgot about your order.
I shared with her that's not very
professional of her, because I needed
the flowers for tomorrow's wedding. All she
could say to me was that she was sorry.
I told her sorry does not cut it,
because we are dealing with someone's
big day tomorrow and I could loose my
reputation over her mistake. She quickly
looked at my order form and told me that
most of the flowers I order she does not
have. I told her that I'm not surprised,
because she didn't order the flowers in
for me that's why it's not there. I got so
mad of her bullshit, so I walked out of
the wholesale. I nearly cried, because
tomorrow is the wedding and I don't have
the flowers the bride ordered thanks to
my wholesale rep who so carelessly
didn't order the flowers in for me. I
quickly calm down and thought of a
solution. I also have business accounts
with other four wholesales in town. So I
went to the four wholesales and got very
close to the flowers I ordered that was
missed. So finally I got everything I
needed and arranged all the flowers for
the wedding that night. I was also invited as a
guess to the wedding, so I attended the
wedding. During the wedding reception I
was scared and excited at the same time.
I was so worried that the wedding party
and the bride does not like the flower arrangements
and wedding flowers I designed. But
thank God the bride and
groom end up surprising me by thanking
me during their speech to their family
and friends and saying that what an
amazing job I did with the wedding
flowers and made their wedding day the
best day ever. That was a very close call.
Thank God!!!

As a floral designer for weddings we are
very lucky sometimes, because most of
the time we are invited to the wedding
as a guest. Which means we get to
celebrate the big day of the bride and
groom with their families and friends. I
think it's an honour to be invited to be
part of the wedding celebration. Today I
had so much fun during the wedding. The
wedding ceremony was so sweet and
beautiful. The bride was so beautiful
holding the wedding bouquet I designed
for her and the groom was so handsome
with the Calla Lily
boutonnière I
designed for him. They are match made in
heaven.
The food was amazing. The steak was bbq
to perfection. I don't think I could
forget how wonderful the steak taste for
a very long time. I normally don't eat
desserts, because it's too sweet for me.
But in this wedding the dessert was to
die for. Everything was so perfect. The
wedding cake was something you have to
eat and just die, because it was so
good. I love the speech the
bride's older brother made for her. It
showed what a wonderful older brother he is
and how much he loved his younger
sister. The speech was funny and
sweet at the same time. It was one of
the best speech I have heard.
To make things even better after the
dinner and desserts, they had a dance
floor set up. I have not party and dance
like this for over 15 years. The music
they played was so good that I have to
dance. All the guess in the wedding was
so awesome they all went on the dance
floor and started to dance like no
tomorrow. We all shaked our asses with
synchronized rhythm with the music. I
especially like how one of my friend
dance to the song, "I like big butts" he
was all over the dance floor. It was so
fun to watch. I had so much fun dancing
that time went past so fast that I
didn't know and it was time to go home.
I felt like Cinderella when the clock hits
mid-night and I have to leave. I have to
admit, I dance so much I have to take my
dancing shoes off. It was hurting my
feet. This wedding is one of the best
wedding I have ever been too. I was so
happy that the bride and groom and I
became good friends. |

A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked me if
I could help him design a bouquet of
roses to give to his wife for her
birthday as gift. Given the
opportunities to design a bouquet of
roses I did not refuse. However I see it
as a very good challenge. I didn't just
want to pick a type of roses that you
could just buy from any local florist in
Vancouver and I also didn't want to use red color
roses. I really wanted
to pick a rose that's very special and
the rose could only be purchase through
wholesalers. I looked through my
catalogue of flowers and I found a rose
called Esperance.
Esperance
is a light pink rose with darker pink
tips and a touch of green on its outer
petals. Esperance rose has a very
large head that opens into a precious
star-shaped bloom. I was told that the
local breed of Esperance roses are only
grown and available at this time of
year. There's two types of these roses.
The imported Esperance which is from the
mountains of Ecuador and it's available all year round,
however the local breed of Esperance are
only available the summer months. The
grower only grows these flowers for the
summer months. I designed a
bouquet with 24 stems of Esperance roses
with a touch of 5 stems CasaBlanca lilies, mixed
greens and accent flowers. I arranged
the bouquet as a hand-tie bouquet. My
friend told me the next day that his
wife loved the bouquet and the roses.

Today I was thinking of going to the
wholesalers and get some good deals on
flowers, so I could start designing
flowers for weddings for my next
season's trends and fashions, however
when I went to the wholesalers there
were no deals and the flowers did not
appeal to me. But there were one flower
that caught my eyes and attention. This
flower was called Chinese Lantern. Many
of you guys probably seen it before. I
remember during the Spring I saw Home
Depot and the nurses selling the seeds.
There were a few seconds of my thoughts
I was about to buy the seeds and
attempted to grow the plant myself. But
the better side of me took control of my
thoughts and I end up not buying the
seeds. This flower is so unique in so
many ways and I especially love the
orange color. And I think this flower
bloom at the right time.
In
a couple of weeks it's going to be
Autumn Festive for us Chinese fools and
during the celebrating young children
usually lights up lanterns and watch the
full moon with family. The Chinese
Lantern flower will make such a
wonderful flower arrangement during the
celebration when families gather
together and have dinner and afterwards
have full moon cake while admiring the
full moon. In this event I will just
design something very simple, so putting
together ten stems of Chinese Lanterns
in a glass vase and that will make a
gorgeous and fabulous centrepiece. Happy
Autumn Festival.

I can't believe 2009 is almost over. One
more day and year 2009 is over. Wow..
This year went past so fast. This year
has been an very exciting year for me. I
had so many opportunities to design
flowers for weddings. I was so blessed
with God's favor that the wholesalers
had so many unique flowers available for
me to design with. As I designer
it's very important to have unique
flowers to design with, because that
will make our designs special compare to
another designers. I have a feeling 2010
will be another year with unique flowers
to design with. Yesterday I had a chance
to show my work lead at my job my
website, because I volunteered to design
our department's webpage to get more
exposer to our clients. It was amazing
when I showed him my website I realized
something very special feeling that fill
my heart. I told my work lead that
designing with flowers is my passion. I
guessed if you have a chance to take a
look at my designs you will noticed how
passionate I am as a floral designer. I
think in order to be a good floral
designer, you have to have passion about
flowers. If you have passion about
flowers, your heart will appreciate
flowers and love flowers. It's amazing
when you have the passionate feeling,
your heart just designs the flowers with
no limitations. Your hand and mind work
hand and hand to design a master piece.
I know in year 2010 will be another
exciting year for me as a floral
designer that I will continue having
passion with flowers and design master
pieces for all my clients. Happy New
Year Everyone!!
